The Very Hungry Caterpillar is a children’s picture book which was written, designed and also illustrated by Eric Carle. The first book was published in 1969, and now you can also follow it on Netflix.

The Very Hungry Caterpillar follows a caterpillar which eats itself through various foodstuff such as apple, pears, oranges, strawberries, plum, chocolate cake, pickle, ice cream, lollipop, salami, Swiss cheese, sausage, cupcake, cherry pie and a leaf until it turns into a butterfly. So the story shows the various stages of the butterfly and it shows the transformation of the caterpillar to butterfly.

The hungry caterpillar each day eats something, the first day he eats one apple, the second day he eats two pears, the third day he eats 3 plums and so on until day seven. After eating enough in the end the hungry caterpillar turns into a beautiful and bright butterfly with large, gorgeous and colourful wings.

The Very Hungry Caterpillar is the winner of many children’s literature and it is said to be one of the best children’s book of all time.
