Highlights coming to Canadian Netflix in July 2017

Star Wars Rogue One

This movie does not need any further introduction. It was the second most popular movie in theaters in the world in 2016, only left behind by Captain America: Civil War. This is a fantastic movie added to the Star Wars universe, and it made me feel addicted to the Star Wars series again.

Hacksaw Ridge

This is a beautiful movie about a pacifist entering the war, doing his uttermost to help his mates. It was nominated for several Academy Awards, and it was a highly praised movie directed by Mel Gibson.

Arrival

Lots of people considered this to be one of the best movies released in 2016. I did not become a personal fan at once as I watched it, but it is still a very interesting movie. What happens as aliens arrive, but the citizens of the world do not know what the aliens actually want. Will we be able to communicate with the aliens?

Jack Reacher: Never Go Back

I discovered the Jack Reacher series on Netflix a few years ago, and really liked the movie. I was therefore happy when Jack Reacher: Never Goes Back was released in 2016, and of course I have seen the movie already, even though it will be released on Canadian Netflix (as the first Netflix region) in July 2017. Tom Cruise plays the super solider Jack Reacher who is able to do anything to bring justice and save the ones he care about.

Snowden

Do you know the story about Edward Snowden? Why did he have to escape to Russia? Are things really as bad as some people claim them to be? If you stream the movie Snowden on Netflix, you will find an answer to all those questions, and many more. And if you like streaming movies about the Internet, then you might want to stream The Social Network on Canadian Netflix as well in July, a movie about the Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg.

Toni Erdmann

This is one of the most praised movies from 2016, and it currently has a 92% critics score on Rotten Tomatoes. It is a German-Austrian production, and even though it was the favorite to win the “Best Foreign Movie Award” during the Oscars, it did not (The Salesman did). The movie is a comedy, and a good alternative to the typical Hollywood productions on a warm summer day.

There are also some older movies that will come to Canadian Netflix in July 2017, and here are some of the highlights from that list.

Pixels

This crazy comedy with Adam Sandler is a must-see for any Adam Sandler fan who enjoyed playing Space Invaders, Donkey Kong and PacMan during the 80s.

X-Men: Days of Future Past

I am quite a big fan of the X-Men series, and for that reason I have of course seen this movie already. I can not understand how it can be just as popular as Star Wars, but people seem to love whatever Marvel create. If you haven’t seen X-Men yet, then you should not start with this one, but if you are up to date and just want to stream it again, then it can be done on Canadian Netflix from July 1st.

The Blues Brothers

Finally The Blues Brothers will come to Canadian Netflix. This is just an awesome movie, with a soundtrack that you will want to listen to over and over again on Spotify afterwards. Dan Aykroyd and John Belushi are the Blues Brothers, and this is a classic that should be watched by everyone who loves a good movie and terrific music.

Braveheart

This is just a fantastic movie with Mel Gibson in the role as William Wallace, a 13th-century Scottish warrior who led the Scots in the First War of Scottish Independence against King Edward I of England. This is an epic movie, a movie you simply should watch. It was nominated for ten Oscars, and ended up winning five in the following categories: Best Picture, Best Director, Best Cinematography, Best Makeup, and Best Sound Editing. Get started right away, probably the best movie coming to Canadian Netflix in July 2017 of all!

The Social Network

If you spend about an hour a day on Facebook, shouldn’t you spend two hours at least once to find out more about the creator of the social network itself? In The Social Network you get to know more about Mark Zuckerberg and his super creation, Facebook.

Last Vegas

In this movie you meet the old friends played Michael Douglas, Robert De Niro, Morgan Freeman and Kevin Cline. They are old, they are out of shape (with the exception of Michael Douglas), and now they travel to Las Vegas to go crazy, considering it to be their last Vegas.

  1. After reading some I am really looking forward to the arrival of Toni Erdmann, much more than the arrival of Arrival! 🙂 Sounds like a great movie, and the fact that it is produced in Europe might make it even more interesting (not the typical kind of Hollywood movie)

  2. I must say that Legends of the Fall is a real class, so you should probably have emphasized that movie as well on your list of highlights of old movies coming to Netflix in Canada in July. It was nominated for three Oscars, has beautiful music and let us not forget about Brad Pitt and Anthony Hopkins as well!
